The Las Vegas chapter of the International Special Event Society held their first monthly meeting of the year tonight with the help of sponsor, Amusement Game Rentals.
The best part of tonight, I was hired by Exhibit City News to cover the event. So starting at 5:30 P.M. I made my way over to the AGM office where the meeting was going to be held.
This was not your typical professional meeting however, each ISES meeting has a specific theme to them, this month's theme - what else but the Olympics.
Upon entering a full size Marilyn Monroe themed Poker Table was set up at the entrance. The table was complete with chips, cards and name badges for members and attendees. As members entered and signed in, they were given a random assignment of being added to a country's team. (My team for the evening.... Brazil!)
Through out the night each team competed head to head against each other in a series of 'olympic' events, including ski racing, NASCAR racing, a short pool game, foozeball, a basketball shoot-out, and even a 60 second center piece decorating competition.
After the games were through the two top winning teams won a 15 second turn in a money booth.... which blew dollar bills in the air available for grabs by those who were locked in.
It was a fun evening and a great networking opportunity, stay tuned for an update with my final article of the event.
Thank you Nikki for the wonderful comments regarding the ISES Las Vegas January Meeting. We enjoyed having you and look forward to seeing you again. Remember students can attend our events at a reduced rate of $25.00.
